Introduction to Grid Computing, EGEE and Bulgarian Grid Initiatives

Description:

EGEE has established an international grid infrastructure. The purpose of this 1 day training course is to give a practical introduction to Grid Computing and the international EGEE grid. The course is intended for researchers and system managers with an interest in Grid Computing and gives some experience of the current EGEE middleware. The training materials are in English, the language used during presentations is Bulgarian and English.

This course describes the activities and objectives of EGEE and its major middleware services:

· Authorisation and Authentication

· Information Services

· Data Management

These services will be exercised during the practicals on the GILDA grid. GILDA is a grid provided for training by the University of Catania and INFN, with partner sites in many countries.

Logistics:

The course will be held in the building of IPP-BAS. The location map and recommended hotels list are at http://egee-2-na3.acad.bg/ .
In order to use a laptop to access GILDA to run the exercises you will only need preinstalled ssh and 802.11b/g wireless communication capabilities. At the beginning of the course the participants with a laptop will receive wireless connection parameters and a unique IP address for the event. It is desirable for the participants to declare usage of personal laptop during registration for the event.
